Arts & Crafts Style Bunk Beds

Back

These bunk beds are made in the traditional Arts & Crafts style. The material used in these beds is quarter sawn and flat sawn red oak and red oak plywood. All joinery is mortise and tenon to ensure strength and durability under constant use by children. The headboards and footboards have little figures of a horse and a dog scroll sawn out of solid bubinga. When the children elect to take the beds apart and no longer "mountain climb" to the top bunk, there is a headboard and footboard with the dog and a headboard and footboard with the horse. The parents get to store the ladder and safety rail (after all isn't that what mom and dad do - store stuff for the kids). The ladder is made from quarter sawn red oak. The fronts of the steps have bubinga which is much more durable then red oak and will stand up to years of use and abuse. The finish consists of aniline dye and oil/urethane clear coat.
