This Church Pulpit was built for a Baptist Church in Kentucky. One of the church members happened to see something a little like it when she was watching a show televised from Texas. The pulpit is made from solid East Indian Rosewood and veneer. Trying to acquire large quantities of solid East Indian Rosewood is tough and expensive. The construction technique for the legs is torsion box construction with veneer. The upper part has a Baltic birch core with veneer over it. The trim is all solid wood. It's hard to see but there are two ebony inlays in each leg.

Her you see the ebony inlay on the legs a little better. This is the view from the back. There is a leather covered insert that the reading material sits on with an ebony ledge to keep it from sliding off the pulpit. To the right of the leather insert is a water glass holder for the speaker.
