This wall shelving system is made from knotty Alder. One of the design requirements was that the shelving units be able to hold mementos, and knick-knacks but also be light and unobtrusive when you viewed it from any angle. The challenge was solved by not putting any backs on the shelving units. This made them appear light, open and airy. Each shelving unit has adjustable shelves. The cantilevered shelves pointing into the center were designed to provide a frame and focal point for the owners photography.

This shorter wall has another piece of the shelving system.

This portion of the shelving system has a wide open shelving unit for displaying items as well as a lower cabinet which is actually a firewood storage cabinet. The doors on the front are fully functional, however, as the next picture shows, firewood is accessed from the open end. This makes it much easier to stock it with firewood and remove the firewood when needed.
